Navratri Vrat Recepies, Fasting/Vrat recipes

Navratri is one of the holiest Hindu festival, where different avatars of Goddess Durga is worshiped for nine days. It is celebrated twice a year, which is considered as a sacred time to worship Goddess Durga, at the beginning of the spring and at the beginning of the autumn.

Ingredients like kuttu atta, singhara atta, fresh fruits, milk, yogurt and makhanas are preferred as they are light on the stomach and can be digested easily. Instead of regular salt, rock salt or sendha namak is used as it is unprocessed and considered pure. During the nine days of Navratri, those who do not fast may follow a vegetarian satvik diet where ingredients like garlic and onions are also avoided, to allow your body to detox.

If you are planning to keep fast during Navratri, please do check the "Vrat Info", in which I have mentioned some fasting rules. This year Chaitra Navratri begins on 8th April, 2016 and ends on 16th April 2016.

Let the joy of festival embrace you with the best of my fasting recipes. Indulge in from the old fasting favorites to the newer ones.
